The West Lafayette Sagamore LIONS is a fellowship of men and women dedicated to improving the quality of Life in the Greater Lafayette area...and beyond.  These LIONS are most noticed, in their bright colored hats and vests, as they engage in their various activities about the Community.  They are also seen at the Feast of the Hunters Moon, Candy Sales for Cancer, and Ticket Taking and Ushering at Purdue Football Games.

LIONS are internationally renown for their efforts to aid the blind and visually impaired throughout the World.   This is a positive response to Helen Keller`s plea for the LIONS to become "Knights of the Blind".  The West Lafayette LIONS respond to this challenge in a number of ways. They sponsor free eye exams for young children in Tippecanoe County.  They fund eye exams and glasses for others who are unable to pay.  They collect and recycle used eyeglasses for use in third world countries, and even participate in missions to these countries, where these eyeglasses are delivered and fitted.

The West Lafayette LIONS are excited about increasing services to the youth of our Community be they educational, cultural, recreational, or health.   We sponsor soccer teams and an art competition, we contribute to youth musical groups, and are continually responsive to young people with a variety of medical issues.

We contribute, at the State level, to initiatives in training Leader Dogs for the blind, in a tissue and eye bank, in improving speech and hearing, in Cancer treatment and research, and in disaster relief.  We maintain a tax-exempt charitable trust for bequests and larger donations.

Membership in our Club is by invitation, but we are always seeking persons who wish to share the LIONS challenge/motto of "We Serve".
